Concrete Pressure Cell – Model EPS-30V-C
The Encardio-rite Model EPS-30V-C is a vibrating wire concrete pressure cell designed for embedment in mass concrete to monitor total stress or pressure within the structure.
It is ideal for use in dams, base slabs, foundations, and other concrete structures, providing highly reliable long-term measurements of stress variations during and after construction.
This model is similar in design to the EPS-30V-S soil pressure cell, but it features a 600 mm long pinch tube that allows the pressure pad to be re-pressurized after the concrete has cured, ensuring excellent contact between the sensor and the surrounding concrete.
System Overview
The EPS-30V-C consists of two circular stainless-steel plates welded around their periphery to form a thin cavity filled with de-aired fluid.
A vibrating wire pressure transducer converts changes in fluid pressure into a corresponding frequency signal, providing precise and stable readings that are unaffected by cable length or electrical noise.
After the concrete sets, the pinch tube is manually squeezed to restore full hydraulic contact, ensuring the pressure cell accurately transfers the true stress acting within the concrete mass.
The sensor body is hermetically sealed by electron-beam welding, providing full IP-68 waterproof protection for reliable performance in harsh field conditions.
