Description
Earth Pressure Cell – Model EPS-30V-S
The Encardio-rite Model EPS-30V-S is a vibrating wire earth pressure cell designed to measure total pressure in soil, earth fills, and embankments.
It provides highly accurate and long-term reliable data on stress distribution within soil and fill materials — essential for assessing the performance and stability of embankments, retaining structures, and foundations.
System Overview
The EPS-30V-S comprises two stainless-steel discs welded together around their periphery to form a flat, flexible pressure pad.
This pressure pad is connected to a vibrating wire pressure sensor through a 6 mm diameter × 165 mm long stainless-steel tube, forming a sealed hydraulic system filled with de-aired fluid.
When external pressure acts on the soil surface, it is transferred through the fluid to the vibrating wire transducer.
The sensor converts the resulting pressure change into a frequency output, which can be read using any compatible vibrating wire readout unit or automatic datalogger.
The EPS-30V-S is hermetically sealed by electron beam welding, ensuring long-term waterproofing and corrosion resistance, even in saturated or aggressive environments.
